Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions

GENERAL

The spa is open from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week.

 

Our restaurants’ hours are as follows:

  • Cafe: 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
  • Restö: 11 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

No, there are no time limits. You may enjoy your time at the spa from the time of your arrival to our closing time, which is currently 10:00 p.m.

Yes! Guests are invited to bring their own water bottles. Re-fill stations with flavoured water are available in Finlandia, Relaxa and the Massana lounge. Tea is also available in Relaxa! You can purchase beverages in the Restö, the Lounge and the Biërgarden (weather permitting). Please be advised that glass water bottles are not allowed.

Yes! Our gift certificates don’t expire, so if you weren’t able to use your certificate during our closure, you’ll be able to redeem it now. 

You may do so online or by phone (1 855 284-6868 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.). When making your reservation online, you must use your gift certificate at the time of booking. 

Do note that we require a credit card for every reservation no matter if a gift certificate is used. A valid credit card must be used to guarantee your reservation. Thermëa by Nordik Spa-Nature reserves the right to cancel any reservation made with an invalid credit card.

A pre-authorization of $150 per guest is held on the credit card the day of your visit to allow you to make purchases with your RFID bracelet. This amount will be adjusted automatically after the visit to reflect purchases made. If the limit is reached during your visit, another pre-authorization will be processed automatically.

If your gift certificate starts with “WP”, you may need to give us a call to make the reservation. We are happy to assist you between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. every day of the week.

Spa Policies

The site is reserved to those 16 years old and over. Guests may be asked to present an identification card to access the site.  

Our spa is open year-round, rain or shine. Our facilities have been designed so that you can enjoy your spa experience regardless of the weather. 

Weather forecasts do not affect your reservation, and Thermëa does not offer compensation for bad weather. However, if you wish to reschedule, please advise us 24 hours prior to your visit. We would like to take this opportunity to inform you that the rainy days are quieter and very pleasant! We offer comfortable relaxation areas and shelters to relax, and our saunas and hot baths will warm you up.  

Please note that in the case of a thunderstorm, the baths will be closed temporarily.

Cancellations must be made by email at info@thermea.ca. Cancellation fees will apply based on when the notice is received prior to the time of your reservation: 

  • Reservations remain 100% refundable to the original method of payment if cancelled at least 48h before your reservation time.
  • Cancellations made between 24-48h prior will be entitled to a full reservation credit in the form of a gift certificate that will be sent to the main email used for the booking. You will then be able to apply it to a future reservation. It is also possible to postpone your reservation to another date up to 24h before your original arrival time.
  • Life happens, and we get that. Should you need to postpone or modify your reservation with less than 24h notice, this may be requested by phone (8 am-4 pm) or via chat (8 am-6 pm) and will incur a rebooking fee.

RESERVATION AND FACILITY INFORMATION

Yes! Reservations are required and can be made online or by phone (1 855 284-6868). We will no longer be allowing walk-ins. To ensure a contactless experience, you will be required to pay in advance for your reservation at the moment of booking.

No, the thermal experience is not included in the purchase of a massage and body care treatment.

In an effort to create a contactless experience, all on-site purchases must be made with an electronic wristband. 

On the day of your visit, you will be given an electronic wristband to open your locker. The wristband is also used to pay for your purchases on site. A pre-authorization of $150 per guest is held on your credit card the day of your visit to allow you to make purchases with the wristband. This amount will be adjusted automatically after the visit to reflect purchases made. If the limit is reached during your visit, another pre-authorization will be processed automatically.

No, we do not have a meeting or reception room at this time.

GIFT CERTIFICATES

Simply click here and insert the serial number found in the right bottom corner of your gift certificate. Then, insert the date of purchase found above the serial number. Click “check balance” and there it is!

Yes! Our gift certificates don’t expire, so if you weren’t able to use your certificate during our closure, you’ll be able to redeem it now 

Thermëa honours all valid gift certificates. Gift certificates that expired before June 30, 2010 will not be honoured. This is the date on which the regulations regarding gift certificates came into effect. 

Please note that promotional gift certificates are valid for a period of one year only and have no monetary value after their expiration date. You can tell if you have a promotional gift certificate if the barcode in the bottom right hand corner begins with the letters “WP”.  

In the event that you lose your gift certificate we will be happy to assist you. However, please note that in order to protect the identity and personal information of the buyer, we will not perform a search upon your arrival to the spa. Instead, write to us in advance of your spa visit at info@thermea.ca and we will gladly help you.  

PREGNANCY AND NURSING

Please keep in mind that our baths, saunas, and relaxation areas are reserved for people aged 16 and over.  

Whenever possible, we offer space for breastfeeding or expressing milk on-site, based on availability. Simply inquire when you arrive at the spa, and we will be happy to assist and advise whether a private space is available or indicate where outlets are accessible in the women’s change room. Unfortunately, we cannot accept reservations for private spaces at this time.  

Coming to the spa during pregnancy can be a pleasant experience and can provide many benefits. Our services can help to relieve tension, soothe heavy legs, and improve sleep. There are several options available to expectant mothers who want to take full advantage of a day at the spa, including:   

  • The Mom-to-Be massage, specifically designed for our pregnant clientele’s needs and comfort. However, they should consult their doctor before receiving a massage. 
  • The vast majority of our body care treatments are safe during pregnancy, with the exception of a few. Whenever possible, our professionals are able to adapt them to ensure your well-being and that of your baby. 
  • The temperate Tempër pool, which is heated to around 30 °C 
  • The numerous indoor and outdoor relaxation areas  
  • The Restö and Lounge dining areas as well as the Biërgarden in summer 

Please note that hot tubs above 37 °C, saunas, and exfoliation are not recommended for pregnant women, and it is important to always consult your doctor for personalized medical advice.   

HEALTH, SAFETY & ACCESSIBILITY

Thermëa was built to follow the natural terrain, as such, some stairs and inclinations are present around the site. Our paths are made of cobblestones to maintain the natural aspect of the site.

The beach is located down a flight of stairs, one of which (to the right) offers a handrail down to the sandy beach. Whilst handrails are available to go into Polarber, there are no handrails for the two or three steps leading to the pool. The hot tub Geser can be accessed through the left side via a cobblestone ramp with handrails stepping into the baths, access with stairs is available to the right.

At this moment, we do not have a mechanical lift to aid guests in and out of our baths.

Massage and esthetic rooms are located up a flight of stairs and we are not equipped with a lift or elevators. We do not currently offer a treatment on the ground floor but wish to do so in the future.

We have accessible parking spots available close to the main entrance.

Please reach out to us prior to your visit if you experience mobility impairments, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Thermal Experience 

The thermal experience may present risks for those suffering from angina, heart or respiratory problems, diabetes, and hyper- or hypotension – especially when these conditions are viewed as serious and/or uncontrolled.  

Massages and body treatments  

If you have been diagnosed with cancer, are in remission, or have undergone major surgery in the last three months, it is possible that a note from your health care provider will be required.  

Prior to receiving any massage or body treatment, we ask all clients to fill out and sign a health form as a means of certifying that you have declared any health conditions.  

Please be sure to always consult with your doctor for personalized medical advice. 

Yes! We use essential oils in our rituals, steam baths, massage and body care treatments.

The essential oils we use at the spa are of the highest quality.

It is likely that guests will be in contact with essential oils at some point during their visit and we cannot guarantee they will be able to avoid them.

Yes! All our massage therapists are registered. Direct billing is not offered. However, we will issue receipts for insurance purposes that will be emailed once the service has been rendered.

We do suggest you validate your coverage with your insurance provider beforehand and confirm their requirements. Please note that body treatments are performed by estheticians and cannot be claimed through most insurance programs.

Yes! We can provide you with a new receipt for insurance purposes. Please send an email to info@thermea.ca with your name, the date of your visit, and a brief message indicating you wish to have a new receipt issued. You will receive a new receipt by email within two to three business days.
